See where it all started in The Secret of ABC's Lost Part I! Or jump ahead to The Secret of ABC's Lost Part III!

Sorry for the delay in between posts but the real world has been busy lately.

Woot! Thanks to everyone for all their input and linkbacks. I checked my site referrers and not only has my Lost post received around 4000 hits, this site is now all over the search engines. There's too many to cite but one of my favorites is the fact that this site is now the sixth site displayed when you Google "abc's lost secrets". Neat! Oh and this site is also the numebr one Google result for "ton loc" because of this post.

Anyway, on to the new!

It has since come out that the Dharma pages and Big spaceship and rodent revolution stuff we got so excited over before is now clearly fan-created hoaxes. That's a shame but it was fun while it lasted. That's ok, though. We've got some good stuff this time around.

We've learned that the Others only take "the good ones". Whatever the hell that means.

Sayid finally believed Shannon after they both saw Walt and he was again speaking backwards. This time he warned them They're coming and they're close". At first glance this would seem to be a reference to the Others. However, one dead Shannon later we see exactly what Walt meant. The other survivors are coming and they'll hurt you so stay put, you dizzy bitch. She of course didn't and we got to see Sayid make his "O" face but in a bad way. We go on to learn that Ana-Lucia is responsible not only for Shannon's death but for gunning down an unarmed man (who had previously shot her causing her to miscarry). This continues the idea that everyone here so far is directly or indirectly responsible for at least one death and the idea of purgatory is again teased at when Sayid asks what difference it would make in killing Ana-Lucia "if we're both already dead". At this point we've also been introduced to the tail section's wildman Mr. Eko. Harmon has noted that in the World of Warcraft MMORPG (and presubmably elsewhere), the word "eko" is used to denote a totem or soul. Interesting...

Meanwhile, Locke is doing a crossword puzzle. After watching the episode I went back and slo-mo'ed this shot and Locke is working on 42 down (please to be noting the number as one of Hurley's). The clue is "Enkidu's friend". The camera cuts to John solving this as "Gilgamesh".

I'll come back to this in a moment.

This is the point where Locke meets Eko. A man seemingly like himself. Almost an echo perhaps?

Moving on to Kate's slice of white trash hell... Popular theory was that Kate had killed her father. This was based solely on Kate's mom's reaction to Kate in the hospital in Season One along with her statement that she had killed someone she loved. Not being ones to leave out a twist, we discover that the man Kate thought was her father was actually her step-father and that the man Kate killed was her actual father, not her step-father as she had been lead to believe her whole life. All this was part of an evil plan by her real step-father, who we learn served in the Korean War, possibly tying in Jin and Sun or "Gin and Juice" as Nathan from Sktiz TV likes to call them. Then again he drinks Aqua Velva so take it for what it's worth. Beyond all this drama (incest much, guys?) Kate is saved from the Federal Marshal when a black horse runs out in front of his car. This could be a visual pun since a "dark horse" is someone who comes from out of nowhere. Also interesting is the fact that this kind of mirrors Episode 16 from Season One, Outlaws when Kate tagged along with Sawyer who is was being harassed by a pig he presumed to be the reincarnated spirit of the innocent man he was set up to kill. Is the horse Kate's dad?

Phew!

Cut to Eko explaining to Locke that he had something important to show him. Something much like a new Bible. It turns out to be extended footage of the Dharma training film in which Dr. Candle warns against using the computer to try and contact the outside world. The implication of this as far as a Bible goes is still unclear. Here's what has become very clear:

Locke's crossword solution was "Gilgamesh". For those who don't know, Gilgamesh is the oldest written story in the world, predating The Iliad and Biblical texts by some 1,000 years. Carved on 11 stone tablets, "Gilgamesh describes the journey of the king of the city of Uruk in what is now Iraq."

Iraq.

Interesting.

So the gist goes that Gilgamesh has this buddy Enkidu. "Enkidu is the quintessential savage man in the beginning of the epic". Sound like anyone we know? So if Locke is Enkidu doesn't it stand to reason that Jack is Gilgamesh?

These two heroes travel into the forest to "...kill Humbaba , the demon guardian of the trees, then cut down the trees which they float as a raft back to Uruk...".

Raft?

Check.

Demon in the trees?

Check.

It is also of note that this passage, which seems to be the most relevant to our story at present, is on the fifth tablet.

Jack has a tattoo of the number five on his arm.

Let's hear your thoughts...
